Fall Victoriously

FOR THOUGH THE RIGHTEOUS FALL SEVEN TIMES, THEY RISE AGAIN
— Proverbs 24:16

Victorious Fall is a play on words done on purpose. The meaning I want you to get out of it is both, a victorious autumn and a fall that is victorious.

I know some may not associate falling with being victorious but I do. Someone who has never fallen before does not know victory. Someone who has never failed before, cannot truly embrace the feeling of success. It’s to show that falling is part of this walk. It happens. Life can be crushing you, and sure at that time you feel truly crushed, but it’s important to keep the faith and remember that you will rise again.

I remember my first “real” challenge after getting saved. I was shocked because it felt as if everyone lied to me. They made this Christian life seem so sweet, so polished, so nice. In my eyes, they were people who had it all together and were always happy for no reason. Almost perfect. So yeah, I was in for a rude awakening when I felt that I had disappointed God. My first “fall” as a “new creation”. I was very disappointed in myself and was very certain God was too.

I think it’s natural for us to want to hide or distance ourselves from someone we have hurt or think we have let down. Just looking at the first fall of mankind, Adam and Eve. They committed a sin and once they realized they messed up, bad, they hid from God.

So that’s what I did when I “fell” for the first time. I hid. I distanced myself from God. Until God’s love came to find me where I was hiding and taught me that when I fall, when I do wrong, I should not be running away from God but towards him. As I grew and matured in the faith, I began to understand that falling is part of this Christian walk. Those who stumble and fall aren’t messed up, they aren’t weird or flawed. They are on a journey. We are all on a journey and there will come times where we will fall, but although the righteous fall seven times, they will get back again. We are victorious, remember that. Nothing can keep us down unless we let it. When you fall, it may hurt, you may be upset, but shake it off and get back up and try again, only this time try it with God.

You're Victorious ;)

Love,

V
