Christ is risen! So what are you going to do about it...?

Typically, when someone stumbles upon a great deal or sale, they spread the word to friends, family, and maybe even colleagues or neighbors. Likewise, I view the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ in the same light. A good deal worth telling others about!

For those of us who have been blessed with the grace to accept Jesus and walk in His ways, we have a responsibility to share this incredible news that has freed us with others. When I reflect on the profound impact of the cross and the joy of knowing Christ personally, I can't help but share it— otherwise, it feels like withholding a life-changing opportunity from someone else. The opportunity to trade bondage for freedom, pain for healing, sorrow for joy, mourning for dancing, rejection for belonging, hopelessness for purpose, and orphanhood for sonship, is way too good not to share!

Romans 1:16 declares “For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile. This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.”

The heart of the good news is this: Jesus, sent by God on earth out of His love for us, was crucified in our place, bearing our sins, shame, sickness, and transgressions. He triumphed over death through His resurrection and now sits at the right hand of God, offering forgiveness of sins and eternal life to all who believe. Jesus loves you, wants a relationship with you, and cares for you deeply.

This good news is transformative and powerful for those who believe. The bible says in 1 Corinthians 1:18

“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God”.

For those of us who have been saved, we understand the power held within this good news. Others in the world may not even know what they’re missing out on. They may not understand and may think it foolishness. All they truly know is what the world has to offer. But as someone who knows the truth, who has been set free by this truth, and has gained the right to become a child a God, and become a new creation, I believe you have a duty, a calling, and literally, a whole COMMISSION to share this good news and not keep it or hoard it to yourself.

But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. - John 1:12

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! - 2 Corinthians 5:17

Here’s an illustration that might help: You’re outside in subzero weather and all you own is a torn-up t-shirt, and you’re freezing. One of your friends stands outside with you and sees you shivering and slowly catching frostbite. Yet this friend has on a huge winter parka, a beanie, gloves, and the whole set. They also have a whole closet full of sweaters and jackets never been worn but still manage to say NOTHING… just watched you freeze to death. How selfish would that be? In the same way, holding onto the life-changing truth of the gospel without sharing it is selfish. It's not enough to simply wish others a happy Easter or post about Christ's resurrection—we must live out the gospel in our lives and actively share it with others every day; so that people will not perish but have eternal life, like you!

I encourage you to spread the gospel, to share the news that Jesus is alive and offers love, acceptance, healing, and peace. The simplest way to do this is by embodying Christ's love in your actions and lifestyle. Being Christlike will naturally draw people to you, prompting them to inquire about the source of your joy and peace.

The Great Commission:

And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone. Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned. - Matthew 28:19-20
